Term: outboard (n)
Definition: 1) A removable motor which is mounted over the stern, or in a motor well, of a small boat. 2) A boat having an outboard motor.

Definition: A long oar mounted astern and used to steer ancient Egyptian and Viking vessels. The steering board was customarily mounted on the right side of the ship (starboard side) forcing the vessel to dock against the other side (port side).

Definition: A long shaped board that can be used as a means for riding down the face of breaking waves off the beach.

Definition: A removable deck plank.

Term: bunk board (n)
Definition: A rail or partition that can be installed at the edge of a berth to help keep a seaman from rolling out of bed when the seas are high.

Definition: Without trickery or deceit, from the days when a pirate ship would approach its prey with most of the crew hiding below, giving the impression of a casual meeting at sea.

Term: headboard (n)
Definition: A stout triangular reinforcing piece sewn into the head of jib headed sails. In most cases the headboard is made of metal or heavy plastic to take the strain of the halyard and wind.

Definition: A centerboard, used in some small racing class sailboats, that turns slightly to weather making the hull more stable.
